Went to the sales with a friend at the weekend, she fell in love with a (allegedly) 3 year old coloured colt. he was lot 1019, he was a really scraggy looking youngster with boggle eyes!! he had one wall eye. he was sold by a lady dealer, we missed him in the ring and then he disappeared from his pen - we've asked the office but they say they cant help - please does any one know this horse??? either who bought him or who sold him, any information at all, friend cant sleep as she had her heart set on him and is convinced hes been sold for meat.

She wants to buy him and has cash waiting - please get in touch either to let us know where he ended up

Thanks for reading

I take it you don't know the name of the seller?
Any chance you can go to the next sale and see if she's there?

no I dont and as they dont publish a catalogue and the office wont help im not sure how I find her. she had about 10 ish horses in the sale, one was a 15.2 clevland bay x mare and another was an 18yr old ex show jumper. her horses where all at the start, she was about 5ft6 ish dark hair slighty build. does anyone know her?

PMs if prefered but my friend apparently didnt sleep last night and randomly burst into tears at work. pony wasnt in greatest condition and we where told he sold for 35 gineas - friend is convinced hes gone for meat and is soo unset, I think she had planned out thier life together and then she missed him

I will go back to the sales in a fortnight, my worry is he could be in france by then

:(

Have contacted EMW with a description - fingers crossed, and am about to post in HCC on FB.

any other suggestions? Ive just got upset thinking about him whilst making coffeee. he was a sorry state, I dread to think what will happen to him.

a 5*forever home awaits boggles (thats what we named him!!) please please help us find him

If you think hes gone for meat has it occured to you to try ringing Turners? I dont know if they would be able to help, but if they had a buyer there they should at least be able to tell you that.

to be honest, it hadnt occured to me - but bloody good suggestion - like you say , they are in the business to make money and I think from speaking to friend earlier thye could practically name thier price!!

is Turners the closest slaughter house to Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire? are there any others I should try?

am going to ring around slaughter houses and try the sales offices again - I know they cant give me the details of the buyer, but if they would pass my details on we would be willing to pay double, triple what ever the price to get him back, assuming the dealer has half a business brain in thier head surely they will take us up on the offer? :S

I cant help wondering wherte he is and what hes doing, I just hope hes somewhere safe.

I know where being a bit silly and over emotional about a horse we only knew for five minutes but heyho, cant help it - we want our little pony back :(

Not much help but when we used to go to melton on a regular basis, you had dealers from all over the country, so he may not have gone locally. Is cambridge sales on soon?? Often used to see horses brought at one and sold at the other, cant remember which had higher prices but may be worth a shot.

Go to the next sale and ask around. Someone will know the dealer and if you explain the situation you may find out who the seller was, people are very approachable.

I will be back at Melton on the 21st. I have no idea when Cambs is next on but will look into that too.

Will be calling the office at 9am to see if I can get them to help, fingers crossed.

In the meantime, bumping this post

All the dealers know each other, do you know anyone who does a bit of dealing and would be a regular at the sales? Someone may know someone who knows her. Good luck!

I read elsewhere that lots of the coloureds were sold and that people wondered if it was because Stow and Appleby are coming up soon. So he may not have gone for meat as coloureds are still popular.

yes it has occured to me that he may have been sold privately and whilst if he had a private home I think friend would be able to sleep easier at night, she still wants to buy him so either way we want to track him down.

a lady has contacted me to say she thinks he didnt sell and she thinks she saw him being loaded up by a lady. but we havent established if thats the same lady that sold him

x

she had mid length dark hair, looked mid 20's? was polite and well spoken. of average height - about 5ft5/6 quite thin. she rode 2 other horses in the ring, a cleveland bay x mare and a tb exshowjumper. she was a dealer I believe because of the amount of horses she had there.
