As the heading states can you be a member of 2 different Riding Clubs ? I didn't have a local Riding Club so joined one slightly outside my area however a new club has now started up in my area. I really enjoy the company & flatwork lessons with my club but see that there are a lot more rallies etc organised by the new one. Would be interested to hear if anyone else does if you can & how they find it works for them. Many thanks

Yes you can

It works fine - just pick the training / shows you want to go to from both

You can be a member of as many different riding clubs that you want - you can only compete for one at the affiliated riding club competitions in a competition year

Riding clubs should be

friendly and welcoming, run by riders for riders. Although competitive success is important, the club's main objective SHOULD BE to provide training and support at all levels and to have fun!

Therefore this should be reflected in the diversity of people who compete for the club. Yes, i am all too aware that politics do get in the way but just volunteer to be on a team; you will have a great time and get to know alot of other people who are probalbly all thinking the same.

I and all my friends are members of two local clubs -they both have different things on offer and it works fine. I'm on the committee of one and it doesn't cause any problems, another friend is on the committee of the other but we both go to both clubs' events. We have a friendly rivalry but it goes no further than that. We have even organised some events jointly in the past.

That is so true ! Im chair of an affiliated riding club and we have seen many novice rider come on to our SJ Teams and progress so much.

Being able to represent your club is not about you being the best rider, most importantly its the team spirit that goes with it !

Ive made some of my closest friends through riding clubs.

Enjoy your season
