Its my 10th wedding anniversary this month and my hubby had said I can get a horse as my anniversary present!! well as you can imagine I was very excited and got straight to scouring the internet!
I showed him a few and all he could do was huff and puff about the price. They were not ridiculously priced (between 800 - 1000) and then said "I can live with you spending 300 on a horse/pony" :-O !!
So of course I am either going to get something very young or something that may have problems or something that would be way too small to ride :-(
Then......he starts looking on the internet at L200s as he has wanted one for ages and found one for £1000 and now he is whittling for an L200! We have a 4x4 and a car so do not need to spend that kind of money on a motor!
Why can he justify spending that kind of money on a motor but I cannot spend it on a horse????
MEN!!!

:-D

Tell hubby if he buys you the dream horse you will buy him his dream car when he says yes get down to the toy shop and buy him the toy car :D
Man are a pain in the butt which is why I stick to horses :p

I would say hit the road matey he wants to spend 10k on a pick up!!!!!!! and you a horse for 300!!! 3 grand for a horse and 7 towards the truck sounds better.....

I would tell him I would like a saddle for my wedding anniversary instead and buy myself the horse. £300 should get you an OK saddle ;)

Um.

My hubby bought my first horse for me. Almost doubled the budget so as I could have the next one after I lost the first. Then he gave me the money he'd been saving for a t.v. so I could have a trailer...:)

I've sat through football matches and been cycling with him (not keen on either). Now I'm planning on getting him an Apple Mac to play with, though it will mean I don't get anything for Christmas (I think I've had enough!!).

When my mum was younger, my grandad promised to buy my mum her first horse, she found the perfect one, just to find, her dad had bought a bigger moter bike with the money!!! My grandad and uncle were always trying to out do each other, and the day before my uncle bought a new bike that was better than my grandads, so he went and bought a new one with my mums horsey money!! As you can imagine that didn't go down well.

It must be a man thing :) When women want money, we have a limit, but when THEY wan't money, its a different story.

So do what I do, Hubby wants to buy something, take note of price and write it down in black and white. I've always said the Hubby can have what he wants as long I can spend the same amount of money on what I want. And at the moment I'm up £2000, so maybe I shall be hitting the sales soon or leave till the spring. It's my hubbies 10 year plan don't you know.:D:D:D:D:D. play them at their own game.:D:D

Ah indeed we should be tarred and feathered all of us, what monsters we are!!

My wife hates horses so currently she has a nice black Discovery and regular shopping trips, my daughter has a placid palomino that she rides occasionally.
I can thus get on with the serious business of eventing and earning enough money to keep all and sundry.
Please do not label all men thus, yours may not be a perfect specimen but the majority of us do try to be fair

I'm not a man, but ditto this :D

D is a star and come to think of it, all the men that I know that have any connection with the horse world, practically bend over backwards to help out, etc. their other halves horsey habit :D

So, there is hope out there, you just have to keep looking :D :D :D

I may moan, but I love him dearly! Now if it was a rifle I wanted I would not get any terms or conditions! lol
I will be getting my horsey at some point, just got to find the right one for the right price! :-D

i guess i'm another lucky one then! my husband bought me a horse for our anniversary and he helps with his upkeep both financially and physically. he doesn't ride but absolutely adores my lad!

he jokes that if i only had a fiver left to feed either us or the horse then i would choose the horse, what he actually means is that HE would choose the horse! ;)
