Im looking to install a 25x40 menage & wonder if anyone has any advice? can anyone reccommend any people to install them in the Staffordshire area? Costs? Surfaces?

Im on a budget so nothing extremely expensive!

Does anyone have any experience on planning permission with floodlights?

thanks

I live in Kent and installed my own 20 x 40 menage last year. 20 x 45 is an unusual size ?
I too was on a budget - and got costings from professional firms - but they were huge.
I got some local builders to do the groundwork and install it (they had put in a few previously).
I purchased the kit - which consister of drains, membranes, fencing and gates from a local company - then purchase all the aggregates separately.
In terms of planning - they will want to know location, and a cross section of the construction. Lighting is a sticking point for many planning authorities.
I have lighting on my yard - but needed to be able to illustrate the lux values and ensure that there was no light pollution to any neighbours.
I ended up saving about £5k by putting it in myself - but the finished product is brilliant. I used chalk instead of hardcore - and it drains brilliantly.

Sorry this is soo long.

it is an unusual size! Its the size of the field & as i jump i thought an extra 5m width would help set up a course!

I too thought about getting builders to do it but im worried in case it goes horribly wrong!

Our local builders merchant does the 'DIY kit' which consists of all the drains, membrane, fencing, kickboard, gate etc. It does not include the surface or the hardcore. The kit costs about £2000 inc vat

My other half worked out that to hire in the machinery, buy the hardcore and the 'kit' dig the drains etc would cost about £7000, including hiring someone to help him. This does not include the surface, which depending on type would cost about another £3000 or more.

As it was, our neighbour put in a 65x25 menage, which we have full use of, so we didn't put our own in in the end. Her husband did most of the work, and they have their own digger. It cost her about £18,000 in total, from start to finish, including surface, extra labour etc.
