Hi all. My OH and I have spent the afternoon at our new house and have worked out that the max. menage space is going to be 18m x 30m. Given that we aren't going to be competing, practicing for competitions or jumping anything over 2ft (and that not for a loooong time!) is this big enough?

Its pretty small. If you have ponies, they'd be ok, but a big horse wouldn't be able to do much in that. It would be fine for lungeing. I wouldn't want to jump in that though - its the 30m that is the issue really...

it really isnt big enough if you have horses. ok if dinky ponies. menages are so expensive to build well and the minimum really if you have horses is 20 by 40. metres. you only want to build once so i would opt for 20 by 40 min, with excellent drains.

Anything is a start! We have a 20x33 turnout paddock, and my son canters his 13.2 in it, and we taught the 12.2 to jump in it. Our bigger horses happily trot in it, but rarely canter. Would be fine for the lunge...
