Am finally getting a new school. I currently have a 20x40 school and the surface is about 17 years old!! It has always ridden too soft and now is just about k*******ed. I'm having it extended to a 60x20 but am not sure what the best surface would be for me. I pretty much am the only person who uses it and only do flat work/dressage. Was thinking of the gel type surface but have never ridden on it so advice please. Thanks guys.

My experiences:
Sand gel surfaces or water controlled sand are gorgeous... My favourite.
Rubber and sand is great for jumping, but can run deep at the edges and track for flatwork.
We've just moved to a yard with a wood chip/bark surface, and although its not what I would choose, mainly because I've never ridden on one before. It's turning out to be really nice. Not deep, but soft enough, and doesn't shift too much either. It has a sand base underneath aswell.
Hope your arena planning goes well

Geltrack is very expensive, we looked into it a while ago. The best tip it to go and see some and if you can ride in them to see what you think.

Good luck with the arena!
