I have a 13 year old dressage horse who went lame behind after a fit of bucking on the lunge. After lots of visits to vets, nerve blocking joint injecting and then over a year's field rest he still was not sound, so I decided to have one last go before giving up on him... Our last lameness work up showed radiographic change and my vet had good reason to believe that he had a torn meniscus. I had the authroscopy surgery done and it turned out that the meniscus was indeed torn.
They tidied up the cartilage and ordered 4 months total box rest.
My poor horse is 3 months through this box rest and is handling his 'jail time' very well. However, I am now beginning to get very worried that it may not be knitted back together properly, as this can happen if they mess about in the box (rolling, turning around too quickly, etc)
Does anyone have any experience of this.... would appreciate any help / advice!!
