So OH has got the riding bug :-)

His only complaint is that he wonders how all other male riders make themselves comfortable?! He has spotted padded womens knickers at the shops, but hasn't dared investigate further (in the shop!)

-Just to clarify, it isnt ladies knickers he is interested in!!

So, how do all you lads protect yourself, are there any brands you would recommend please? Or clothing he should wear to help. (I did try searching this in the forum and came across a huge thread on Steve from Derbyshire!) Made me laugh!

Thanks all! xx

Tight & supportive rather than boxers. Some guys say they wear cycling shorts under jeans or breeches etc, but I just wear normal briefs and don't have a problem.

There are some special padded mens riding underwear, think Derby House stocks it.

I found its like riding a bike. After a couple rides your body toughens up and any discomfort should disappear. Obviously if it continues for a while then it should be investigated.

Well fitting boxers and a good pair of breeches should be all he needs!

I am a bloke and I have been riding for years. May be padded knickers would help your OH but I really think it's your position. I used to lean forward too much and that used to hurt!!! Now I sit up with my seat bones and it's really comfy, secure and stable. I also prefer flat front breeches as I found pleated breeches gave too much rooms (for ME) to move around...

I've never had a problem with this issue. I think the saddle makes a big difference. Maybe a nice memory foam seat saver would help.

OH goes for tight stretchy brief style pants. The equitech ones. You need to hold everything securely out of the way. Speedos also work.

Cycling shorts or the boxer style riding pants tend to ruck up around the thigh when wearing close fittings jodhs. Good snug jodhs also help keep things out of the way.
