help! my mare got turned out for the summer on sunday(stabled over winter with 2 days t/o per wk) and she's gone mad! honestly she's a bit of a lazy plod in the school but we have land to ride round and she went mental on monday when i tried, she's gone straight into season so i know that wont help but its such a major personality change! any ideas for supplements/action plans/body protection??!!

I have the same problem! and mines chestnut! have you tried taking all of the grain and course mix out of her feed and if that doesnt work try her on the NAF magic, i cant really live without it now!

Take out/ reduce most or any energy food. Try lungeing her before you ride to get that spunk out of her - she can then gallop and buck all she likes as long as you hold on and keep her steady. Season definently won't help, but bear with her, she'll be out of it in a few days! If you can and if she does, hack her out somewhere and give her a right blast up a steady hill or somewhere she'll thank you for it as she will feel refreshed

Take care

she's on no food but the grass in the field(fatty cob!)took her out again and risked letting her go up a huge field with slight hill - she was half dead by end so i figure i'm pretty safe! might be giddy but not completely psycho!
thanks for advice! this is my first summer as horse owner so its all scary!
