Hi guys

Thinking of putting my horse on loan to Merrist Wood, I know there have been millions of threads about loaning horses to college but cant find any of this particular college.
Yay or nay?

Any help or experiences greatly recieved, spoken to yard manager on phone who sounds lovely but thought I'd get your opinions!

Well was just wondering how much the horses are worked everyday and how oftern they get turn out, whats the general standard of riding?
Thanks, I've got millions of questions but there the only ones I can think of atm!
Pm if you'd prefer

A mare from my yard went there, apparently shes really happy and they all love her (big coloured called Maggie or Moose if anybody there!!). I don't think any complete muppets ride her (i hope!) altough I don't think she goes out? Not 100% though. I think they are very well looked after and well handled/fed though.

I sent my Welsh Cob there for a few months a few years back as I needed full livery due to family circumstances but couldnt afford the £150+ a week for the yards around here.

I had no complaints, he was well looked after, got turned out regularily and I got to use the facilities in the eve when I was about. He wasnt fit when he got there so they took it easy, increased his fitness and then he did about 2 hours a day.

I would do it again with any of my lot if I had too - it was a good option at the time.

Thanks, I need to do something really as just had my salary seriously cut, I've barely had time to ride in the last 12 months and I feel bad she's not getting enough attention so it seems like the best option for us. She's very plump and unfit atm, she's the sort that needs to be ridden or she'd be as big as a house!
I'm glad you've both had good experiences, merrist woods a little bit far out for me but I like the fact they can stay there over Christmas and easter.
They're coming to see her in 2 weeks, so fingers crossed they like her!

Hi

Its a fab place, I compete there and know horses there, all happy, they have turn out and all look well.
I could always check on her for you as live local, have sent photos for other owners before if that helps :)

Hey sorry been away from the laptop!

Pretty much like the replies you have had!

All horses are looked after really well, I think you should PM me with your questions as I don't feel comfortable answering all your questions on an open forum!!

Saf - Thats really sweet, I am hoping if she goes there I will be visiting every weekend as I only live an hour away...but it's always good to have eyes on the ground!
