Hi

Merrrist wood are holding an unaff ODE in June with an Intro and Pre Novice Class - does anyone have any idea what the XC is like, I havent done xc there for about 8 years ! Would like to enter the pre novice but want to check that its not massive before I do !
Also does anyone know if you can go schooling there ?

Sx

I am assuming the majority is over portable xc, as they do not advertise that they have xc facilities. I know in the 'meadows' they have a permanent table, ditch, derby bank and sunken road as their derby SJ is held there. However MW were supposed to be hosting a BE event, so god knows they must have XC somewhere lol

yep they do have several xc fields if u continue up the road past the arena. when they held BE i think it was considered a nice PN. it didnt look too tricky or big to me. i'm pretty sure you can not school there because they use it for grazing the college animals or for hay..... something agricultural lol!

According to BE they've cancelled their BE intro and PN, I've been to watch it for the last few years and it always looked pretty nice. They used to have a bit of a violent right angle to a hedge up the back, but apart from that seemed pretty straighforward. Loads of people seem to have problems in the water (weirdly more so in the pn than the intro) but in alot of cases that appeared to be rider error.
I've not actually ridden round it in about the same length of time as you tho, so i guess that might be unfair as it might ride differently to the way it walks.

I did the BE Intro a couple of years ago. Lovely course and lovely ground. It was rained off last year I believe.

There is a full BE XC course at the top of the campus. I have ridden it a few times- it is a very nice course, nothing to tricky and it is relatively flat too

I would imagine it would be quite a nice first time Intro/ PN if it is'nt rained off.
