mesh cooler - why not use fly rug?

ok,ive been searching for a cheap mesh type cooler for my horse. something along the lines of the amigo skrim. but they only come dark colours..... which seems a little odd given its a product potentially being used on a warm day...

so would there be any sane reason not to use one of these instead?

You probabaly don't need a cooler in the summer months, they dry easier, especially in this heat. Mine wears a fly rug in the field but no other time. Hope that helps, I use my coolers for travelling and if she's worked hard when she's clipped in the winter.

i do like to have a mesh cooler for summer.... i had the amigo skrim for my last horse but its navy. it was really good for after XC etc. (also handy for after baths) Just crossed my mind that there isnt much difference between the white mesh fly rugs with standard necks, and mesh coolers.

I use a fly rug as a cooler sometimes but if I'm going to a show, i use a mesh cooler as my fly rug is filthy!

The least two times I've taken Lacey xc we've used her MT fly rug as a cooler after washing her down and I must say it works superbly!
