I have seen quite a lot of riding tights designed for summer with mesh on them to make them cooler.

Ariat and Shires both have them and so does decathlon. Has anyone tried any of them?

I have the Ariat ones - they are very light weight but do seem to be robust. I like them but not sure if the mesh really does make them cooler but having said that they are my go-to tights in hot weather.

I've got the Ariat ones. I love them, but wasn't impressed with the stitching quality! I had to use fabric glue on the seat seam as it was starting to come undone after one day's wear!

I think these are all well and good until you snag them on a bramble and end up with a big hole in the mesh! I wear gym leggings (fabletics) to ride in and some have mesh pockets, great for carrying your phone but get holes very easily I find

I like the fact have full seat but I wonder if the mesh pannel would just look a bit wierd?

My Pilates instructor wears leggings with mesh and I think they do look really weird but I guess if they keep you cool. Wouldn't horseflies be able to bite the rider more easily and other nasties including brambles etc.?

Looking at some of them the mesh bits look less than flattering with models so not sure what they would look like on normal lumpy people.

I had some nice cotton type jods from decathlon, very light and cool. Might be worth a trip to see the mesh ones in the flesh and see what else they have

I just bought some thicker sports leggings because I am fed up of getting stung (nettles) and bitten (horseflies) through the ones I have! I think those you mentioned would be great in an arena though, in a non-horsefly sort of area. They’d be lovely and cool.

I would mainly be using them when I have lessons at the Riding School as don't have my own pony at the moment and the lessons are normally in the indoor school.

I tend to by sports leggings rather then riding ones. Have a pair from tk maxx with mesh panels, in their third summer and going strong.

I have a couple of pairs of the Shires ones. One plain black pair lost half the silicon dots on the bum the first time I wore them, making them so slippery that they've been demoted to gym wear! The other pair, Aubrion, navy with ombre panels, are still going strong, and definitely help in hot weather. However, absolutely not to be worn during horsefly season! The biggest problem with them is that the phone pocket doesn't have a flap and is so slippery that my phone goes flying out after two strides of trot.

They’re nice for light work but I can’t ride properly in them (IE school etc). The fabric moves too much and rubs.
