Messed up a bit on worming program.....

Can anyone advise on a good worming program - my YO and I thought we were both doing it and it turns out we haven't - its been 3 months!!

If I am to start from scratch - what should I use?

Perfect time of year to use Pramox which will deal with everything. Then use Equest green in January, Pramox again in April, Equest green in July.

Ditto the Pramox. Even better if you have a frost first, but you want to be doing it by the first week in December regardless

would worm count them both too. They will still need doing for encysted redworm and tapeworm (pramox!) but at least if you know what you are starting with you can then worm accordingly from now on!

get a fecal egg count done to see if worming is needed for the stronglyes they might not need dosing as regularly as you think.in fact new advise being given out on worming is to only worm when nessecary,as problems with resistance due to the chronic overworming of horses is building.
6 to 8 weeks worming doses arent being advised for some worms anymore though the drug companys will tell you otherwise.do worm them for tapeworm and redworm now though.

i would go on to the equest equest promox worming. I would do promox now that will cover everything plus tape worm then spring do an equest and so on!

Agree with promax/Equest. I have just done my mare with promax as we were behind... its a very easy programme to follow
