Even worse, it was the first time I had ridden my boy since August last year!! Hoping for a nice quiet hack with OH cycling alongside in Milton Keynes, we rounded a corner at Gullivers Land to be met by said rollercoaster heading towards us in the air with 100's of screaming offspring onboard, waving their collective arms about. I did wonder if things might get interesting, but Beowulf just grew big eyes and backed up a bit! The coaster came to a stop and he walked by as if nothing had happened! Later on a chav's staffie flew at him and again he was as good as gold even though he was keen and excited to be out and about again after being bored in his field for many months. What a star. Sorry self indulgent but just made me realise what a great ponio I have (he's a 16.2hh ISH btw not a ploddy dobbin!)

Thanks for the nice comments about Beowulf who was named before the film :-) (also known as Woofie/Poofie Woofie! Sorry if not PC..), I was worried someone would say 'what a stupid place to go for a first hack' ! Unfortunately the planners in MK thought it was a great idea to put the bridleways next to theme parks, concrete cows, playparks and worse.. my old hunter had a similar reaction to Keeley's horse when suddenly seeing the concrete cows staring at her with huge white eyes! And once we got hit by a flying football, not to mentioned stoned by traveller kids :-0

Ah well he had extra Happy Hoof! I do really appreciate having a very safe horse to hack (though he goes nuts XC!) I did think he would be OK about it really. My little mare Ellie, who is also generally very safe indeed, would have turned tail and galloped home in a muck sweat (as she did once when glimpsing a windmill bird scarer about 1/2 mile away! I think it was because Woofie's Mother was very safe, I once took her to a Blur concert at the MK Bowl (outside of course) and she was cool, loved every minute!

Hmmmm I met that rollarcoaster on an endurance competition ride last august. Pony (err sorry 16.2 IDx) whipped around so quick that we parted company.

Fortunatly I managed to cling onto the reins and a kind passer-by helped me back on!
