She is a little 14.1 sj pony 22 yo! Still full of life but hasnt done anything for past year but a very lovely pony as friends know her and exculsive to me if I would like her!

At the moment Im not really sure what to do....its such a wonderfull offer and so very kind but its a bit of jump going from a 15.3hh 9yo to 14.1hh 22 yo

ATA - What are your thoughts? x

Gosh, how wonderful!

Before you do anything else, I would try the pony. You are a perfect build to ride a pony - I have another friend who is very similar to you, and she looks equally fine on a 14hh pony as she does on a 16.2! Some have all the luck

Her age is obviously not ideal, but you need to think what it is you are hoping to achieve. If you want a horse to hack around, do some fun rides on, maybe a bit of riding club, then I would say (providing she is in good health and sound) that once she is fit, she should cope with no problems. All three of my childhood ponies were ridden daily and did all PC activities into their early 30s

If you want to go BSJA/BE etc, then maybe not - you would need something bigger and younger, almost certainly. Also look at the fact that it would only be a loan afterall - this mare could give you a lot of fun for the next four or five years, by which time you may have the means to go out and buy a younger horse of your own, and the mare would then probably be nearing retirement anyway.

If you like her, it sounds perfect

What fantastic people to make such an offer so soon after losing Phoebe.

Sorry, I can't help you decide what to do.

But I would say take a few days, firstly to mourn Phoebe, and secondly make sure you know what you really want from whatever comes next.

Good luck, and let us know what you decide.

Thanks all for lovely comments!!
They are truley wondefull people and so very kind!

She sounds like a lovely pony and im sure would do everything I would ask of her once she was brought back into work and fit! I certinaly wouldnt rite her off due to her age and not going to rush into anything but the doubt in my mind is that I have never been a huge fan of ponies but that wouldnt stop me having her!

Atm dont know what I want as still not get to gribs with pheebs not being here!! xx

I hadn't read your previous post about Phoebe - I'm so sorry to hear that she died. Golly - what a bugger!!

Thank you for your lovely post yesterday re: Gertie. We buried her in the garden this morning. Saddest bit was when Bean (the mother) found Gertie in the shed and kept licking her and nudging her as if to wake her up. Awful!!

Onwards & upwards - do whatever makes you happy re: new pony!!!

Aw hun, it was so awful about Pheebs.

The owners are so kind, but will no doubt understand your grief.

As to riding ponies - I have a 163hh Dutch Warmblood, but I think I have the most fun riding daughter's 13.2hh six year old cob (I'm five eight and getting on a bit lol). I've taken him in a stressage test where we did okay, and if I were lighter I'd happily jump him.

When you feel ready, go meet the possible one.

Hugs to you.

Whatever you decide, how enormously generous of them. A great vote of confidence in you as a mum and a home.

Aren't some people amazing?

We had exactly the same thing when my children's pony died, no end of people offered us a pony that very weekend, infact someone even brought a pony over for them. The owners of the pony that died even went out looking for a replacement pony for them.

Go and try the pony and even if you take it on in the short term it will at least keep you occupied
