Hi guys, took my elderly dog to the vets today to talk about his arthritis. He's 11 now and gets sore in his elbows which we've been treating with low doses of Metacam plus the usual joint supplements. I've noticed the last couple of weeks he's been getting stiffer in his back and the vet has suggested changing from the metacam to a short course of prednisolone which he thinks will help any inflammation in his spine.

Now the thing thats worrying me is that the vet said to leave it 24 hours between the different drugs as its not safe to give them together. Just seen a knowledgeable friend of mine who said she thought you had to leave it a week...I've been on google to check and can't find a definite answer altho most sway towards my friends view.

I'm going to double check with my vet in case I misunderstood but just wondered if any of you have been through this with your dogs and were they OK changing from one drug to another?

Thanks very much for any replies.
