Michael Crichton died yesterday aged 66. I think it got lost amongst the election results but I just wanted to add a post about him.

Jurassic Park was such a fantastic book and I still watch the film believing those dinosaurs are real!

I also thank him for bringing us ER! (And, inadvertently, George Clooney) I think for those two reasons only, he added a lot of enjoyment to my tv watching alone and a great many children became more interested in dinos as a result. (Well, due to him and maybe Ross Geller too).

So thank you Michael

shame. i love his books i read jurrasic park way before it became a film and thought it would be a fantastic one but how would they do it and now as you say, we believe those creatures are for real. so much of his writing is based on science fact, i am sorry for his loss at such a relatvely young age.

Loved his books, such a shame. apparently another was due to be released next week in America but its release has been postponed.

State of Fear and Lost World were my favourites, state of fear due to the subject matter (global warming or lack of it!) and the huge amount of research he did to ensure he was using actual fact all the way through. And Lost world was superb I was just annoyed the film strayed so far from the book as to be honest the film was pretty poor...

RIP Michael a truely exceptional author IMHO

I loved Jurrasic Park the book and the film. I agree that The Lost World film didn't do the book justice but I love the idea that the dinos survived and flourished (sp?) on that second island without any human intervention. I've always meant to read more of his books, I really should get round to it.

RIP Mr Crichton
