Has anyone read this article that can explain it to me. I really do not understand whatneutral reinforcement is about.

Why are you up at this time of night?
I haven't read the article - but my pure guess would be (I'm not into jargon!) - as an example:
You're riding a horse and he bucks - you beat him - that's negative re-inforcement (or punishment).
You're riding a horse and he doesn't buck - you pat him and tell him 'good boy' - that's positive re-inforcement.
You're riding a horse and he bucks - you quietly continue to ride forward - OR
he doesn't buck - and you continue to ride forward quietly. That's neutral re-inforcement!
That's how I would understnd it - and it's how I try to train; don't make a song and a dance about it - expect good behaviour - so you don't REWARD it as such; assume bad behaviour is a result of a misunderstanding so don't PUNISH it - just ride through it. But I don't give it a label other than common sense!![]()
