Heya I'm currently restarting my youngster and he can be quite fussy with his mouth so I was thinking about getting a micklem bridle to ride bitless with so I've also got the option to have a bit later on if he settles once he's got more experience. How did people find micklem's for bitless?

I'd be interested to know this too. I've just bought a micklem multi bridle for the bitless option. My horse is just 2 years old so I've a bit to wait but I do like the idea of them.

I used mine bitless when my horse had a rub, works fine though the action is no different to a head collar really it is fitted well and gives a better overall 'feedback' to the horse I think.

My mare loves the micklem with a bit, but hates with without. Really odd but suffice to say I won't be doing that again!

I've ridden her "bitless" with no issues in a headcollar down to her field before so I'm not sure what I was doing wrong with the micklem.

I used the Micklem with bit and was happy with it. Then wanted to ride bitless and looked at the extra attachments to convert, but didn't think they were well designed, the two pieces of leather did not move smoothly over each other, there was the possibility of not being able to release the pressure of the bitless attachment. Hope that make sense!

Bitless is all I use mine for! However I only use it in the sidepull configuration as she doesn't like cross-overs. She loves it but is a bit too full of it at the moment to rely on sidepull so I use and English hackamore on a standard bridle.
