So my mare is quite sensitive, at moment normal bridle with turtle tactio bit, have had her in caves in and flash and hated it, hated caveson, was much better in drop but still not right and as she just broken it I am looking for others. I have tried a friends micklem which was slightly too small and she was markedly better. Our local tack shop don’t stock micklem anymore but one further away does. The closer one stocks collegiate but I am not sure I like the nose and in it which is what she seems to have issues with.
Any ideas gratefully received

If you felt she was markedly better in a Micklem, even if it was too small, then I'd go for a Micklem one that fitted. If you're not sure about the Collegiate noseband, you're probably right - gut feelings can be useful sometimes.
My horse goes much better in his Micklem bridle, so I am a bit biased.

I’m looking for a bridle to replace the Micklem (it’s old and very tatty) but I’m not convinced that many are as good. The collegiate one has separate cheek pieces so won’t be the same for the horse. Closest I’ve seen is shockemohle alpha (or beta) bridle but they are a lot of money. I would trial the Micklem if you can and then you may be able to get one second hand. They are good and my horse really likes his. I think it’s ugly and awful leather but his comfort is more important which is why I’m spending loads of time comparing supposedly ergonomic bridles in a lot of detail to try and keep us both happy!

We tried Micklem bridles on our horses & they went well in them. They fit really well the horses seem to go well in them. The only downside with them is the quality of leather used is not the best. You must worth saddle soap into them regularly to ensure they stay looking good otherwise cracks will appear.
