Micklem Competiton Bridle ..... anyone used one?

OK have decided to invest in one as my horse is still a little uncomfortable in his head. Reading through past forum comments, they seems to be just like marmite - love it or hate it and who knows it may just help.

The competition bridle seems a little bit smarter - has anyone used one or compared the two (no one near here sells them) and does anyone know a good place to buy?

I'm guessing if you have read previous posts you may have seen mine - if not take a look.

I wasn't impressed with the Micklem multibridle, however, looking at this new competition version it seems they have addressed some of the problems I had with it including:
no padding over the noseband
poor quality leather.

They also make it in black which is a bonus.

I agree with the principle but the quality and design of the multibridle left a lot to be desired. I'd see if you can actually get to see/touch one before you commit to buying it as the quality of leather was so poor mine stretched to be too big within 2 weeks of using it - approach with caution!!!!

I have a multi bridle. I bought it because I have a very fussy boy. I liked the idea of the bit stabilisation clips to keep his contact secure (no matter what my hands did) and the fact that it transferred the pressure from the bars to the nose. I liked that there is only 1 strap up the cheeks (no separate noseband) and I liked the science behind them.

I had also seen someone at our yard use one, on a similarly fussy mare and she is having marvelous results.

I was very lucky, I actually found someone that didn't like theirs and was willing to sell- they are expensive to buy to experiment.

B really seems to like his. I have had some fabulous session from him, gradually improving as well. I feel i am riding well, managing to keep a more consistent contact and he is accepting the contact and when I ask for a little more, it's coming from his nose so he isn't objecting and fussing. Touch wood. I'm happy so far.

The downside is - I have only found them online in brown (all my tack is black). Apparently the black competition version should be out in September.

Also, the noseband is quite rigid. I suppose it has to be for some of it's functions, like a lunging caveson, but I like my soft padded bridle. Also the loop on the noseband creates a little bump in the leather and b is getting a little bump on his nose with it. I am hoping I have remedied this by putting a little neoprene chain stay over the nose band.

The appearance of it is personal taste, it's not the bonniest bridle, but I don't mind it.

The competitition version, apparently is a softer more padded version with finer leather without the nose ring so that should solve all my problems and going by b's current performance in the multi, I probably will get one when they are released.

All in all, thumbs up from me
