Hi All,

I took my coloured yearling, Casablanca to the vets today to get his markings drawn into his passport, although he is microchipped I wanted the markings drawn in as well.. just encase.

I bought him from a stud farm when he was 5 months old already chipped. When the vet checked his chip today before doing the drawings he discovered the chip didn’t match the number in his passport so couldn’t do the drawings encase it was the wrong passport.

I rang Pet ID who issued his passport and found out the ID chip which is in his neck is registered to a Filly. I think the vet must have put the wrong sticker into his passport, everything else seems to be correct (the fact he is coloured and male..) There is no other way of proving his passport is his.. I have rang the breeder and she is going to try and find some more stickers for his ID chip.

So my question is, how do I go about getting it all sorted? Because his chip is already registered to a female horse, how do I change it to his details? I also have no idea how to get the details in his passport changed! Any help would be brill, I’m getting myself a bit worried.. will he have to have a new passport made or can it just be changed?

Thank you

Saf

Pet ID rang us not so long ago to tell me my ginger tom cat had been found....I didnt have a cat forget about a ginger tom!
Turned out my o/h picked up a cat (completely different) for a friend and the chip numbers had become mixed up! I would imagine thats all thats happened- However its a bit scary if its a common mistake???
You need to get it sorted tho asap-A friend just had her stolen pony returned and the only proof she had was when the vet scanned for a chip number.

At least its not just my boy that its happened to but not good at all if it is a common mistake! I imagen it must have happend to someone before tho, i persume its when breeders get it done in bluk and the vets dont check after implant..!

I dont fully trust the chips (even more now) which is why I wanted to drawings doing aswell, with him been coloured he has very unique marks so could be identifyed them by them alone.. Hopfully going to here from the breeder tomorrow.. just have no idea what to do once I get the right number!

Do insist the stud sort this as presumably the filly's passport is wrong as well
This could cause you a lot of problems later.
