Freezemark....its a visual deterrent and would be my choice.
Although both is better to be fair!

Definately the freezemark, both of mine chipped as well.

If just one, go for freezemark
If possible, do both
And make sure that freezemark registration is kept up to date with relevant company
And make sure that microchip number is actually registered with company
Many times we hear of horses that are chipped with owner details not logged anywhere, not even with microchip companies

Mine has both, if just one then freezemark everytime...
