I'm picking up my new horse sunday *insert Huge happy happy grin* and he's microchipped but i'm not sure how you go about changing the ownership details for that. passport i can deal with but i've never bought a microchipped horse before. Any ideas?

Ok thanks i'll have a search through it it's just at the vetting they couldn't find it in his passport but hopefully they just overlooked it

This is a interesting one. My horses came with just microchip number in passport so I changed ownership and tbh never gave the mircochip a second thought. Do the passport/microchip companies link up some how? To help.

If the microchip number is not in the passport, get the vet to scan it. The first few numbers tend to tell you which company it is, eg starting 372 may be AVID PETrac-think they're one of the biggest. The vet should be able to tell you which company it is.

You then go on their website and download the change of ownership form and send it to the company with the fee (about £12).
