With reference to my perviouse posts about pulling my youngsters mane.
Boots seems to be overly senstive about having her mane combed, she is fine to brush it with a plastic curry comb but becomes a bit on edge if its done with a comb, she also wont let me pull even 2 strands of mane out just useing my fingers, she wont let me plait her mane just as it is either and she wont even let me cut it with sissors!! if i do try she becomes very ajertated(sp), head tossing, trying to squash me against the wall, walking back and forth while tied up, threating to kick out and bite.
I spoke to the lady i bought her off last nite and just in convosation she mentioned that Boots obversly was microchipped and could that be making her overly senstive around her neck area? She said that Boots had never had her mane pulled before so it cant be antisipation(sp) she must just be overly sensitive.
So how do i over come this in general? Boots wont even let me cut her mane with sissors! Has anyone had anything similar with a horse thats been micro chipped? I dont know when exactually she was micro chipped, I'd guess at a few weeks old so its not like its new, shes 15 months old now. Will she grow out of this? Also any ideas on what to do with her mane (that dosnt require touching it, yeh rite..)? Its getting long and i dont want to have an even bigger battle to sort it out next year.
Any experence/ideas welcomed!
