As title says, do any of you know roughly how much this costs?

And how its inserted? would sedation be required on a nervy horse and how intrusive is it?

It is like them having a really big injection. When the vet did mine he used a local anaesthetic on the neck first so that might be enough for your horse instead of sedation. My two had a small lump on their neck afterwards for quite a while but it didn't seem sore at all.

It's basically a big needle - gets inserted then fired in. No clipping required

Just lots of carrots for afterwards

NO clipping required. It is a BIG needle, but my mare didn't even flinch. Think it was £20, I had her done at the same time as her annual vacs.

Cost depends on who is doing it. Current vet has chipped three of mine and it's just under £38 inc vat (most recent one done at the beginning of December)

This is around what I paid too.

No sedation, clipping, or local aneathetic (sp) - just needle in and Bob's your uncle.

Big bloomin needle though - and T wasn't terribly happy about it.......
