Microscope magnification

In the lab, the absolute minimum we use for checking overall motility is 40x total (generally a 10x eyepiece and a 4x lens). Further checks for progressive motility and general morphology require 100-400x total magnification, and detailed morphological assessment requires 1000x total magnification. Hope that helps!
