What are we all up to?

I'm quite excited to be riding every week this month. Things have come a long way since Jan fatigue wise so it's really amazing to be able to up the frequency.

This week is a hack and I'm feeling really up for it. The last one was a really good experience and then I 'banked' it last week by doing a groundwork lesson when I wasn't feeling up to riding. I absolutely loved the groundwork lesson so hopefully with upping my lessons I can do a nice mix of things each month.

I've had a quiet weekend but did hire a local 20x60 yesterday to do some work on our canter. It's getting there but I'm still not convinced he's 100% on the right rein even if the vets can't spot anything.

Microcob hacked. Napped her way down the green lane so I turned back a bit worried. Little madam dropped her shoulder and had a good gallop..... She's definitely not turning back next time!

Just having a fabulous doing this again, not our best dressage as he got a bit upset before we went in so opted for tactfully and he stayed with me, 3 cones down (both the narrower gap cones and one other- was much trickier course than last time but perfect on time)
And absolutely fantastic on the obstacles which meant we held onto our first place!

Quiet one for us this weekend - clipped (again!) and have had 2 X really fab schooling sessions in the last 3 days.
We might not be good at flying changes yet BUT they are definitely adding some extra oomph to our work, which meant a better balance developing in our trot work as the hindlegs are pumping a bit harder!

This thread is seeming a bit quiet this week so thought I'd join in even though our weekend was fairly uninteresting :)

Schooling session on Sunday where we somehow managed to get the only bit of rain all day and a hack on Saturday. We're at just the stage before you militiger where I'm putting in the last touches to start teaching the flying changes. It's also really helped his way of going so I'm looking forward to getting cracking on the flying changes.

Isaac went to a new dressage venue (for us) and got his second sheet to qualify for elementery freestyle to music regionals... and then did our second ever medium test to pick up our first area festival medium sheet (the one we did before was back in May time so doesn't count in this period) - 2 more to collect and then he'll have done all the BD quals I was aiming for for regionals/areas. Both tests sadly a bit marred by him temporarily forgetting how to halt - but nonetheless we were above the required scores, so all good!

Increasingly feeling that dressage might be his thing and that jumping might not be - so perhaps going with it since it starts to get a bit more interesting at this level, and it is all new to me.

Had 3 at our local UA league on Saturday.

My first test in a few months and Jack was a star. Had a couple of silly bobbles in N27 but managed a new PB of 70.87% for 2nd. He was also 6th in p12 with a friend.

Friend then rode Beau in N27 and got the exact same score as myself an Jack 🥳😁

Raz also did two prelims with my dad and placed 2nd then 9th.

I've arrived in sunny (and warm) Spain and SICAB starts tomorrow!
It has been sleeting here all day, I am quite jealous!

My hack on Friday went okay. Definite difference in confidence levels between the two horses that I ride for hacking. I would like to keep working with the one I am less confident with as I think it will really help me actually build my confidence in my riding and build my skills with how to deal with 'snorty dragon' or 'pretend we've never seen this thing we have definitely seen before' moments!

My big horse was fantastic :)

Calm and drivable but 50% more confident than his first outing finishing cantering 1/2 of obstacles 3 and 4. Best dressage of the day again at 86.75%, cones too tight but didn’t phase him, and enjoying his obstacles.

My cob was also great- really easy to drive in dressage just Pipped by Maestro getting a 86.25%! 1 ball down some time and perfect in the hazards just pipped by more nimble smaller ponies :)

He’d also joint won his ridden dressage in the week!
