My grey has a mark on her shoulder, it's not very clear though. I think they just hold it on longer than normal to burn the hair right off instead of it growing back white. I imagine it would be a problem with thin skinned horses though! I'd rather have a grey chipped and only the chip mark put on.

Yes you can, the horse ends up with a "bald patch" where the freezemark is, but it can only be seen clearly if the area is clipped
