Oh yes he does jump, and had only had a handful of poles since we've had him.(3yrs)

Would start with local, and see if he does any good?

I am sure he will do very well locally, particualrly if he is a reliable jumper. You could do with taking quite a lot off his tail though! He is a great colour and will really stand out among the bay horses. You should have a lot of fun!

Was waiting for that, his lovely tail!!

- How much off it, do you think? Will it need to be pulled? Thank you!

What do you think lets him down, with respect to county/ higher level workers?

Tail shd be just below hock.
He looks to have a good deep chest, which judges like.
Main thing is to go clear and then give the judge a lovely, balanced, obedient ride...on both reins.
Judges often seem (to me) to shy away from 'showy' clours but in workers there's more of a 'handsome is as handsome does' attitude..quite rightly! GOOD LUCK!!

Could do with seeing a better picture of him stripped to be honest. He is not standing that well and his legs looked like they are tucked underneath him. You need about 3 inches off his tail, as he looks to carry it fairly high, and it really ought to be pulled, but you could get away with plaiting for most local shows.

I would try some local stuff, see how you get on; some of the local shows use affiliated judges and you could ask them whether they think he would do OK. The workers at affiliated level are hotly contested and there are an awful lot of pro riders doing them which can be quite daunting. But you know your horse can jump, so you are half way there!

OMG the tail!!!!
He does look like a nice stamp, and if he jumps round you are in with a shout, Open workers at affiliated is 1.15 max (I think) we used to do it with my mum's mare for a day out at a posh show! Being ultra picky he looks a tiny bit upright in his shoulder, but that could be the way he is stood, try teaching him to stand more square, it will improve the pictures you get and it is good practise.
I am not sure whereabouts you are (I think you are localish to me?) but at RC level for a decent standard I would recommend Church Farm, and also Delamare Forest RC, further into Cheshire Wilmslow are a competitive club.
Good Luck and enjoy!
