Son got a loan pony as his old boy is past doing camp. Went to check on her this morning & she is lame with a swollen fetlock. Had the vet out & she is not sure if it's a minor soft tissue injury or something more drastic, so it's box rest & bute & wait & see.
He is more worried about his pony but he is gutted that he may well miss camp (2 weeks time) as it's probably the only chance he'll get to do it - he has to have an operation next summer & he'll probably feel too old after that.

Is there any chance your son could borrow another pony? If you let the PC know your problem, they always have connections with all the other PC members obviously and know who has more than 1 pony on the go etc. Ive been approached in the past when some kids pony went lame at camp - they borrowed one of my old ponies to use! Im not even in PC anymore but the secretary knows I have a little fuzz ball whos useful for this type of thing. So Im sure they could try and help you out if you end up not being able to take the pony. Obviously its not quite the same doing it on a strange pony but he'll still learn heaps (if not more!).

Yes contact the branch and tell them your problem.... we have a list of spare ponies/horses offered to kids for camp if theirs goes lame its worth a try.

I shall phone up this evening - fingers crossed.
Now just got to persuade her to take the bute, she was not impressed with this evenings marmitey mash
