Went to grab some carrots last night for treats getting girls in and was amazed that only two carrots left. ....thinks, I must be going mad, maybe I am dreaming that we only bought those carrots last Thursday.

In hurry to try and find fleece last night and madly pulling rug trunks out and throwing rugs left right and centre, I espied the most enormous amount of carrots which had been dragged behind rug bins. There must have been about 60 of them!

We have always fondly talked about our resident mice as "Henrietta" and her family but happily all feed (apart from carrots obviously!) are in mice proof bins. I have a rather creepy feeling that Henrietta would not be capable of carting off 60 carrots, some of them weighing about 250gms!!!!

So, if Henrietta didn't do it, ......................... OMG I think we must have rats. Eeek.

Urgh yuk!! Reminds me that the carrots from my horse's feed were disappearing, and i found loads behnd my tack box.

Have to agree - my rats did the same last week and also pinched a whole packed of apple flavour treats and stashed them behind a rug trunk. Truly yuk - I disturbed one last month and it nearly ran over my foot. Fortunately didnt scream or swear badly as had the kids with me.

Anyone got a nice rat hating terrier they would care loan out for an afternoon's ratting in South Northants?

Good luck with getting rid of them!

When I was about 12 we had super rats in our stables (the really huge, resistant to all types of poison rats). One morning at about 6am I had one fall out of the rafters, land on my shoulder & run down me to the floor. I have never been so scared! I think the whole of Cheltenham must have heard me screaming & swearing over that one!!

OMG you poor thing, that is so gross - I am not sure I would ever recover from that. Even a mouse in the rug trunk gave me nightmares!

That green poison they sell in hardware stores just makes rats laugh at us stupid humans.

Same thing happened to us the other week - whole string bag (bar a couple) of carrots moved from one side of the feed room to the other - amazing!

I am trying to persuade OH that rats are far more exciting to shoot than pigeons...

sounds like rats to me.

My old YO accused me of stealing her carrots as they kept vanishing and I 'always' had carrots (I kept mine in a feed bin and she didn't). She did however apologise when she found the huge pile of carrots behind her hay bales!

That's a coincidence! iIhad a few carrots left in a net bag and this morning the whole thing had disappeared. Thought I was going mad but now suspect some orrible little vermin have nicked them. Yuk!
