my poor Harry Hoof, let him out this morning and he seemed his usual self, checked on him about an hour later and he was lying down, thought it a bit odd for this early in the morning, seemed really lethargic, got him up and got my partner to lead him around a little and he seemed really stiff from behind, he went down again, rolled and just laid out flat looking totally exhausted, called the vet who came straight out and has diagnosed mild colic, temp, heart rate and gut sounds were all normal, gave him a shot of bute, within 15 minutes he was back up, eating and wandering round as if nothing happened, was told to leave him out to graze to keep his gut working, by the time the bute had worn off about five hours later he was back down again, called the vet once more, by the time the vet had arrived he was back on his feet and trying to graze, vet checked vitals, all normal, better gut sounds than earlier, he decided to sedate him and do an internal which was all fine, then gave him a epsom salt wash through his stomach to try and soften anything that was in there, had to give him 20 mins before I could get him in the stable as he was so dopey, he is now in, lots of water, no hay but regular small feeds of Dengie hi fi (molasses free one) he has left me with some bute sachets in case he needs more and ive got to check on him every couple of hours throughout the night, can you please send some positive vibes my way, really hoping he will be okay, my boys are devasted that he is ill :(

Sending good vibes in your direction, colic is horrible and so unpredictable! Reading your post just makes my hairs stand up - just hope he comes through ok. Lxx

Harry Has had a much better night, I have been checking him regularly and feeding him small amounts of dengie, he has now been turned out for an hour, seems stiff behind but think thats from the internal poor chap, fingers crossed we are over it
