My 5 yo tb gelding has been lame for 5 and a half months now, he's 1 tenth lame on his off hind and this increases to 2 fifths lame on flexion.
He has done very little in the way of work in his life, he had an accident at 18 months which prevented him being exported to Germany for the yearling sales there, then he spent a year back at the stud and was broken nearly 3 years ago to go to tattersalls as a 3 yo in training. He was withdrawn as went lame with a mild suspensory injury. So he then had 2 years off.
I had his forelegs scanned at the beginning of this year ( his history is a bit sketchy previous to coming to me ) and it just showed up a mild injury which is unlikely to prevent him from doing any job but advised not to hunt. And did some long reining and a little light hacking, nothing strenous. He was then turned away while I moved house and I started him again for a week later some small lumps appeared, 2 which were on the girth which turned out to be sarcoids.
He appeared not quite right behind and the vets confirmed he was mildly lame which increased on flexion and said he had soft, sore, thrushy feet and that was all.
He has also had very mild laminitis but this has occurred after the lameness and he is fine now. And there is definitely no thrush, however he is still lame.
There are no symptoms as such, he now as a little muscle wastage and he always stands with the off hind forward and he does seem to turn the toe out a little. He is straight in the hindlimb.
There's some pictures here if anyone wants to have a look and see if they can spot anything I haven't or has any other ideas.

When I take him in the school it's just to observe him, he hasn't done any work since April. Once his current sarcoid treatment is finished we will be given a date to take him into the vets for a full lameness work-up, they also want to x-ray front feet.
Thank you.
