Our shire x is always very itchy when he comes into stable. I've never seen him scratching in field however.

The main itchy areas are his mane (which is hogged now) and top of tail.

Hence I think he may have very mild sweetitch.

Any products we can try. Can you still get benzyl benzoate?

I have had a lot of success with kill itch this year, which i think has benzyl benzoate as an ingredient. Have tried all sorts of rugs - mostly ripped off by him  and with all the rain have not wanted to leave him out in fly rugs all night. We still have an intact tail which for this time of year is amazing !!

I don't know if my mare has sweet itch, but she rubbed a small part of her tail raw a few weeks ago. Is only very small, so I just put sudocrem on it because it has 1.01% benzyl benzoate. She hasn't scratched since.

She also rubs her mane a slight bit, but with little damage.

Maybe worth giving sudocrem a try before buying killitch, some horses have a reaction to benzyl benzoate.

My horse has sweet itch but also is sensitive to benzyl benzoate, even in small quantities such as sudocrem. He gets sore skin and loses hair. I use a cream/gel called hippo itch cream which is working really well

I used Osmonds vaccadyne on an inflamed patch of skin with great sucess. Its stuff for cows udders and is soothing and very effective at keeping flies off minor sores. seems to be great stuff!!!!!
