i have heard this is good for weight gain, although i have also heard it is dangerous if over fed?If anyone has any info or uses it that would be greatx
Hi I used to feed lambs milk powder to my horses to keep the weight on during winter. 16.3hh I used to give aprox 3/4 mug full sprinkeld on top of their feed twice a day and never suffered any problems. but to be honest I now give them sunflower seeds
i already feed sunflower seeds but it seems to make no difference to my tb!Did you find it helped? And is it expensive?also do they like the taste?sorry for all questions!
Personally I wouldn't feed anything milk orientated to mature horses. They're not designed to digest it post foal age.
I'd use something oil based....Baileys Outshine, Saracen Equijewel, or Dengie's Alfa A Oil.
Equivite Body Builder is a milk based conditioning supplement formulated for mature horses, lots of people I know find it very effective.
you could try that first as it is made for horses - would cause any problems like a sheep or cattle based product might. I definately wouldn't use any of those
past a very young age, milk pellets are just a very expensive way of wasting your money, as adult horses digestion is not geared towards milk.
try a modern alternative specially formulated to put weight on (i can recommend dodson and horrell build up from experience)
