It's now 23 days since Milo put his leg through the wire fence and treatment is ongoing but now not so intense. He's been on box rest for 21 days and is being the most awesome patient. He's never been lame on the leg but as we have had such horrendous wet weather I decided he would stay in his yard.

I'm really pleased with how the wound is progressing - until I compared the pictures I hadn't realised how much it has come on. The leg and around the wound is coated in Vaseline and the wound carefully painted with a saturated solution of Copper Sulphate every other day to reduce the proud flesh. The scab that forms is washed off with Nizoral shampoo (he has some mudfever so being careful that it doesn't affect the injury), allowed to dry before recoating the leg with vaseline and painting on the Copper Sulphate.

I'm also really pleased with his condition - he is receiving just meadow hay, around six slices a day. He also has a multi mineral block in his yard. I'm hoping that by next weekend I can return him to the teenager who leases him - she will need to do the ongoing removal of the proud flesh for some time.

Thanks - I swear the total box rest and the Activated MAnuka Honey have made healing this wound so successful - it never infected at all.

He is looking and healing really well, I was about to ask if you were using manuka honey... its fantastic stuff. Well he doesn't do things by halves does he? bloody good job glad he is on the mend :D
