Warning over break-ins at stables
A spate of break-ins has occurred at stables in and around Milton Keynes.
A large number of burglaries in stable blocks and tack rooms over the past few weeks has led police to issue a warning to owners to secure their property.
John Horsley, of Thames Valley Police, said: "Saddles and tack have been targeted - criminals do not tend to be opportunist in the horse world."
Police said owners who do not lock stables for access in case of fire should install alarms and CCTV cameras.
Mr Horsley said: "Tack rooms and stables are not built with security in mind and due to fire risk many owners do not like to use locks.
"It's important riders take steps to ensure their equipment is safe and secure."
