Hello! Just wondering if anyone has done it? To me if sounds like it would be a grand weekend , mainly for fun (I like my jumps brightly coloured and to me dressage is the bit in between the jumps!)
I read the blurb on the website about it and before I ask for the entry fees to be my Bday present any feedback?
Thank You!

I've done it twice now, crashed and burned the first time

then had a much better run last year, but totally loved it both times regardless! Would recommend it to anyone but it is a lot of work to get them fit enough. *whispers* I'm hoping to do it in may again. Its not cheap though (entries and stabling are about £200 + transport unless you have your own).
Rachel_jack has also done it (in far better style than i probably ever will)!

now the beer tent idea sounds a little bit like a plan to me!! horsie is far too fit anyway grr so hope to have no probs there..anything in particular about it? what kind of people do it asides from your lovely selves? have only done overnighters at hickstead and ardingly bsja soo exciting!
CastleMouse!ooh come we can be first timers together!

If he's a keep himself fit type he'll probs be fine, mine is a more hairy 'leg at each corner' type so its a bit more challenging for us! All sorts of people and horses do it, there's always a nice mix of 'proper' eventers and people just doing it for fun.

well we jump disco bsja (1m) and we did an open HT at bout 3'6" but there was lots of squeaking from me! the middle class would be comfortable for us at the mo but the third class would be fuuuuun!will see how out next few HTs go really. So if you do a diff class to me I can cheer you on! Be camera person! hehe

I did it in 1999 and 2005 although a couple of pupils have done it every year.
Its a great 3 days, very friendly now. It used to be quite a serious demanding event when Frank owned MKEC. Class 1 was intro, 2 was PN and 3 was novice. Since mike and fiona bought it they have made the classes smaller and more fun opening it up for everyone. Class 3 is now only really Intro level with the odd PN fence.
Horses dont have to be that fit but you do need to be organised on day 2. Experienced helpers are useful if its your first time.
I only did it as a bit of fun in 1999. I was a die hard sjowjumper having never done a dressage test in my life before. Ended up winning it which was what got me in to eventing.
I might take Ed in it in september for a bit of fun.
Day 2 and 3 are videoed (professionally) and they are great to look back on years later.

It is a great event but ridiculously expensive. I did the Grafton PC 2de at mkec instead and it was only about £80 in total. I had a fantastic time and I have the whole thing on video which I watch every now and then. I'm hoping to go again this year

I was planning on doing September but am currently considering doing May instead. Got 2 months until entries open to get the boy fit and do something about our frankly dire SJ.

Do it Saf!!!

oh ok then. Am doing the smallest class though, the boy so badly cannot be expected to jump higher than a cross pole in public! What class are sheeny and Finn doing (please say class 2 otherwise thats another person who'll come in higher than me!)

(PS, do you know what the test is yet?)

Its normally Intro 100. Know it like the back of my hand as OH judged one of the sections and insisted i write for her.

As if I dont see enough dressage already

No, Schedule not up yet. Will be one of the 3 intro tests, none of which are hideous

Am trying to cure Sheenster of her fear of dressage by dragging her out as much as poss. Have entered her for a novice test at end of Feb!

Am hoping by the time we get to MK, dressage will be second nature to her and she would have ridden the test so much that she could do it in her sleep!

My sister's done it, & it is lots of fun. I will be fence judging as Tamara's loan pony (who would have done it) had to go back when Shadow returned, so we dont have one experienced enough.

Heya! I have done it twice now!! its great!
Yes it is friendly and a real good laugh!
I have done the both may and sept one. We found that the may one was good but we had a really wet may last year and alot of the horses were getting pulled out of the dreassge so they really do need to be fit!
i won it on the dressage, like most events now you need a good dressage!
But it is the best event i have ever done!
Go for it!

Its not that up to height first class is a small 2ft9! second is a smallish 3ft!
