For those who asked for an update on mine and Rubys XC day, here it is :D

The first hurdle was loading, she hates trailers, but thats all we could get. After giving myself an hour to load, she went on first time! Was so very proud of her. So we set of earlier then expected.

Got there, tacked up and mounted, I felt so sick from nerves I wanted to get off, but friend wouldn't let me :p instead she suggested we find a small sqaure warm up area away from the carpark. Ruby was very excited and due to my fear in open spaces, I really didn't think I was going to be able to do much. Felt better after warming up, as Ruby decided it really wasn't that exciting. Then we did a small jump, it was awful, I froze and didn't even ride her into it, so of course she just said no! my fault completly. So tried again, this time was better, rode her into it (still not great :o) and she leapt over it. As the day went on I got braver and braver, Ruby proved what an honest little Horse she is, even though my riding was awful, she kept on jumping and got us round safetly. I really enjoyed it, Ruby was absoutly brilliant, I couldn't fault her, shame my nerves held us back. But we haven't done much jumping, so hoping the next time we go, I will be a bit more daring. She was bad to load for the journey home though, it took 3 of us to get her in (friend at her head, dad holidng a lunge line round her bum and me at her shoulder keeping her straight) but after 20 minutes she went in and travelled nicely.

Heres the photos, feel free to CC, I know my riding was awful and I have booked a lesson this morning for next week! :o

Well done! The photos look great :)
Sometimes being nervous is a good thing, it's a sign we are pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone... (So says the woman who was practically green before my SJ yesterday ;) )
I look forward to hearing more reports

Thank you, I agree some times better to be a little nervy. But mine really hold me back. This time Last year I was too scared to even trot in an open space. I've been cantering now for about the last 2-3 months (confidently) but jumping was a whole different thing. I've only ever jumped Ruby twice before this and not in an open space. Kind of just chucked us in at the deep end. I'm very proud of us though. How did your SJ go?

You both look great :) Don't be so hard on yourself, you did what you set out to achieve and going from next to no jumping to xc is a pretty big step ;) You're braver than me :p

Thank you all :) I can't wait for my lesson. Want to work on my canter.

The course was brilliant, there were 2 to choose from, I did the smaller course. Its Stanford Rivers (Berwick Farm)
