Hello all, started having to fed my two now and my horse helper suggests I put a field lick down for them also. I had a horselyx garlic one during the summer but it melted when it rained (despite saying it was weather proof) and turned into a horrible sticky black soup! She's suggested I try another brand but can any of you recommend one?

Ta very much!

I have a weather proof one, big one called Pasture Lick think it's a Scaren one, spelt something like that, cheap but brilliant.

Brilliant glosgirl, that looks more like it! Thank you very much. Not really used licks much before, but Horselyx is the brand my local equestrian shop stocks, but agree there's nothing worse when they've been using it only to want a kiss!;)

Your horse should always have access to a white salt block no matter if your horse is old/young/not in exercise they always are in need of a little salt even in the winter.

I have the himayalan rock salt in one of my stables and a rockies one in the other. Both are really good and mollasses free. and both are weatherproof too. Have used them outside before!

Red rockies which are designed primarily for cattle are suitable for horses too.If you go to the cattle section in our local agricultural merchants the red rockies are much cheaper than in the horse section!
