I am in a very difficult situation where I have been threatened by a local farmer that he may frighten or do something worse to me or my horse if I ride down the roadway off the farm where I keep my horse. (He is my daughters father in law, so not a stranger). I would like to carry on hacking and this is the only way out so I was wondering if anyone had ever used one of these recording devices and would they be suitable to record any problems I encounter with this man. Thank you

Halford's now stock head cams, however if you have been threatened I would report it to the police and obtain an incident number from them.
I would also contact a solicitor and determine if you can get a restraining order on the person concerned.

Thanks for the advise but the track is on his land and in a recent incident where he drove through the post and wire fencing around the horses field and chased my horse down the track, the police came but said he could do what he wanted on his own land and it was his word against mine!

Have a look at the sj4000 Chinese copy of the GoPro. I think the GoPro is over £250, the sj4000 sells on Ebay (new) from around £68. They are virtually identical. See reviews at http://www.techmoan.co.uk.

I bought one for the exact reason you want a helmet cam. Haven't used it in anger yet but the quality of the video is excellent. You can use one with the case which makes it a bit conspicuous or without, but be aware that they are not unbreakable. I dropped mine while connected by the USB cable to the computer and ripped out the connector and scratched the plastic lens (it's glass on the GoPro), but I am so impressed with the camera I promptly bought another! Lots of sample video footage on YouTube now.

BTW, I'd also ask to speak to your community police officer and point out that their duty is also to prevent crime if you do not get a positive response. My local cops suggested they'd have a friendly chat with my source of annoyance which did help. I'd seriously suggest a letter to your area chief constable with a copy to your MP, the response you have had is not acceptable.

Thanks for that. Yes I am thinking of taking matters further as the person in question accelerated past us yesterday as I was leading my grandaughter on her pony. He was towing a sheep trailer at the time and had the pony not been so calm there could have been a serious accident. I may invest in one of the camcorders but at the moment have lost the desire to hack out.
