I thought I'd make a quick post about our mini HHO meet on Saturday, when TimeFaulter came up to visit Cazza and me, and had a ride on Brooklyn.
Brook LOVED him, she was very keen to stand by the school fence and flutter her eyelashes at him, although the shine wore off a little bit when he hopped on board and promptly made her work harder than she has done for a long time ! She gets away with a lot with me, simply because I am not a sufficiently-experienced rider to spot the problems and know ways to deal with them, and because i don't always push myself out of my comfort zone, but TimeFaulter didn't let her get away with anything, and she went absolutely beautifully for him.
Brooklyn tends to rush off in her canter, and every time she did, David brought her back to a nice steady pace. It was really inspiring to watch. He also showed me that she tends to get a lot of tension in her neck and lock up at her poll, and explained some ways to really supple her up at the start of a session.
I rode her last night and put his suggestions into practice, and she was FAB ! She was really like a different horse, she is always forward-going but she was very very responsive as well, and because I spent some time flexing her as per Mr Super-Teacher TimeFaulter's suggestions, she was lovely and supple.
So, it was lovely to see you, TimeFaulter, please come back and visit us any time. Its really a shame you're too far from us to ride her regularly - she went so beautifully for you, and I got a huge amount out of your advice. Good luck with the ginger thing, and with the bay thing
, and with any others you take on, looking forward to seeing you at a few shows through the summer.
