Mini horse rug - rant!

I'm getting an American Miniature in a week or two so have started to get everything ready. Everything is going well, until I look up on google "miniature horse rug" and OMG are they expensive!

They start at around £50 upwards for a turnout with neck. How can this be as they are less than helf the size of a full size rug? - this is madness.

I have a budget that ideally I need to stick to and it doesn't allow for over priced rugs. If anyone has any or knows of a good website that they sell these, please let me know.

What about foal rugs like mark todd are cheap and come in small sizes. My mini has a rhinegold rug on her which cost me £30.

ttt - Ideally a lightweight turnout with detatachable hood, a fleece and a lightweight stable rug... Roughly 3ft...

These do tiddly rugs, not sure on all the prices but Harold's first foal rug was a 2ft6 from there and it was £23.

Also Robinsons petite pony range, I'm not sure if they go down as small as 3ft, I have had a 3ft6 from them. Only thing I have noticed with their rugs is they are big and my ponies generally have a size smaller Robinsons than any other rug.

If your getting an Americsan miniature you will most probably find that foal rugs will not fit. They are too big around the neck. Unfortunatly mini rugs are JUST as expensive as larger rugs if not more!! Welcome to the world of minis!!!! Where are you getting him/her from?? breeding?? more details please im nosey!!!!

Well I've decided to buy a foal rug just for now - as he's coming Saturday and not too sure on sizing etc.. and plus it's almost summer so won't need a turnout!

He is by Condors Simply Something Different by an IMHA mare. Registered AMHA. Approx. 31ins gelding. Roan and white. Needs bringing in shape so lots of work over the coming months! I would post a photo but don't have permission to, but will do on Saturday when I collect him

Robinsons do a good range called the petite pony range and these go from 3'0 to 4'0 and are good qaulity with rugs starting from £15. I find that they fit my miniature well where the foal rugs tend to be tight around the neck!
