mini JLD first jump !

Sorry, proud mummy post. I had my nearly 4 year old out pottering on LR this morning on our 13.2 she's been doing pretty well, walk, rising trot, balance games etc and I asked if she wanted to walk over some poles for a bit of variety as the poles and mini jumps were out from lunging. 'No, I want to jump that' ! Was only about 6" and she only ever rides if OH is walking next to her due to pony size, so as she was up for it and pony just trots over them I said ok we can walk over it. No chance - 3 strides out she gives him a kick says trot on, he trots, pops a perfect little jump in and both finish beaming ! Next time round she can barely sit up for laughing so much ( oh is holding body protector ) so a bit more splat but pony was perfect again. Really proud of pony and daughter although a bit stunned as thought I had a few more years before this !!

Sadly no pictures as with me leading and OH holding on we were all out of photographers ! I still can't get over how gutsy she was. I think trying things safely before fear kicks in is probably a good thing to get the feel for it, also teaches her about more sudden unexpected movement in a controlled way. Will regret this when she wants to do more and I have to get a more suitable pony ! I think a riding school may be in order when she turns 4 !
