Mini portable showers

I have this. Used on the shower setting it's got enough pressure to shift dirt, but is gentle enough that the horse loves it. It's reasonably noisy, but my water phobic scared of everything mare is fine with it nearby (I frequently wash my cob down with her stood nearby). I have it dipped into an Aquaroll.

 
I got one for £30 from Amazon. Its fine for £30. Not sure it does any better job than a bucket and sponge, other than using less water and poss feeling nice for the horse. It was worth the £30 tho.

It's the 'less water' thing that appeals to me! And yes, my pony prefers a shower to jugs of water. Mine is supposed to be arriving later today so I'll be having a play with it!
