Don't. Unless the pony really needs building up.

With the spring grass coming in I wouldn't risk it personally. It isn't as if it is in hard work and needs the extra.

My 3 get ad-lib hay, a mineral lick, and a handful of oats just to make them feel loved. They won't be getting into the fields either when the grass does come through, they'll stay in their little half acre paddock (not so little when you are 30" high) they haven't got problems now and I'd like them all to stay like that while they are here.

Enjoy your mini

Small poos and smaller footprints! I love mine, they are great fun.

My mini shetlands don't get anything atm except for some chopped up carrots and swede to keep them quiet - the spring grass is enough for them and I will have to keep a close eye on their weight. They get hay in the winter when the grass has gone and maybe a bit of chaff if the weather is v cold.

Enjoy your Mini!

I feed my little Monty a handful of Happy Hoof so he gets some vits and mins, but i don't have the option of having him out 24/7 so it also gives him something to munch on whilst in.

Unless she needs feeding up I wouldn't bother, the spring grass will be plenty! Even if she does need more condition, I wouldn't personally give her anything yet, give her a month on fresh grass and she'll balloon!
My mini is out on a pretty bare paddock for 8 hours a day, adlib hay when in, and she gets a small handful of hi-fi with some pink powder and BOSS (for show shine

).
I bought her in poor condition in august, with decent grass and food she soon picked up, then I spent the winter trying to slim her in preparation for spring grass! I've always got lami in the back of my mind and would rather she was trimmer than carrying weight.
Have fun with your mini!

yup sounds good to me!
grass is plenty for shets, and dnot forget they contract lami easily as they are often fed similarly to a 14hh welsh! which they AREN't!

So grass should keep her happy I would think! I want a mini :-( stupid uni with lack of money!
