Miniature Horse Owners (That show...)

With the minis being so easily liftable....the fact they box in a converted transit doesn't assist either, they'd pop on for fun, we have been thinking of having them freezemarked. They are chipped, but its just not visible and hardly anyone checks for chips even tho they are supposed to....

Those that show miniatures would you feel that it would ruin them? get marked down? - also can they do smaller numbers??!!! The size of general numbers is huge it would take up a whole side on one of ours.....!!

Or maybe they could do a sign of some sort, we want something visible but not huge...presuming a micromark at 35mm would be easiest?

I dont agree with it but i have never seen a mini being shown thats freezemarked. Not sure whether they would get marked down as i just havent seen any!!!

No sorry, i meant i dont agree that people are made to feel like their horses will get marked down because of freezemarking!!!! I do believe however that they DO get marked down and thats why i have never seen any minis shown with freezemarking

indeed, there were none at MHOYS were there??? I just worry a bit as they are so stealable, especially when they are reasonably known in the area type thing, not worth silly money but delightful for travellers kid!!

Maybe under mane would be a good idea??! Not sure JC's would show up!

I breed miniature shetlands, rather than miniature horses. We have had four of ours branded - of those, three have been shown - one didn't place on her two times in the ring, but it was nothing to do with her brand - she was just a bit all over the place in the ring, and still a bit immature. The other two have both placed at several shows in large classes - they were the only ponies branded too, and some were affiliated classes.

Their brands are normal size, and I worried they'd look huge too, but they're not too bad. They are done on the saddle area, on near side - so when going round on circle, judge doesn't see the brand. We did consider whether they'd be placed down because of it, but came to two conclusions - any judge worth their salt shouldn't alter their place because of a brand, and secondly, if it did cause them to drop a place or two, so be it. I'd rather be lower in a class or two, than have them stolen & never see them again!
