hmm. my mini is 34 inches tall and very fine, but has a gut:o i weigh taped her at 250kg but im convinced there is no way she can weigh that much and im wary over over dosing her with wormer. How much do other mini owners use?

also - when using equest pramox or similar do you keep your horses in for 3 days or just turn out anyway? I really have nowhere to keep my guys off the field for 3 days

Sounds more like a lb reading, than a kg reading I think. :)

My 12.2 Quarter Horse weanling weighed 380lbs a couple of weeks ago.

I can't remember the dosage I give the minis, usually about a quarter of a syringe I think.

Yes I agree 250kg seems too high. I won a competition guessing the weight of a mini shetland - he was around 140kg but I'm not sure of his height, probably around 9hh. I don't see the point of keeping in after worming (I can't anyway as mine live out), so long as you poo-pick. There must be some reason for people suggesting it but I'd have to be convinced.

Weigh tapes are nearly always wrong ime. Only any use for measuring gain/loss, not for actual weight. Our 11.1, fine, mini x is 200kg. Although fine she's muscular, so I'd be suprised if yours was 240. Can you find a weigh bridge locally?

bugbee - why not equest for a mini, i've never been told by either vet or worming suppliers to not use on my minis.

OP i usually give mine enough for 200kg's they are both around 32" high, this is on vet recommendation, they both measure around 180kg on weigh tape for ponies and both are about right weight/ condition wise.

biggest problem i have is giving them the wormers without them eating the syringe end ! anything that goes in their mouth has to be eaten !!!!!

I had my shettie weighed at the vets years ago - he was 175kg. He's 34" too (with belly!!).

I give him whatever wormer my others are having, at the correct volume.
